Srinagar, Sep 09 (KNO): Acting tough against the menace of drugs, Police on Tuesday said to have arrested four drug peddlers in Anantnag, Shopian and Kupwara while a huge quantity of contraband substances have been recovered from their possession.
“Acting on specific information, a Police team from Police Station Aishmuqam along with Executive Magistrate, raided a rented accommodation in Grendash area, currently occupied by Mukhtar Ahmed Boked son of Rafiq Ahmed resident of Jammu. During search, 06 bags containing narcotic substance (Fukki), approximately 95 kilograms have been recovered,” a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
During the operation, one individual Parvez Ahmed Boked son of Bashir Ahmad Boked resident of Ainobra was arrested. The primary suspect, Mukhtar Ahmed Boked, is currently absconding, and efforts are underway to track and apprehend him, police said.
Meanwhile in Shopian, a Police team from Police Post Hermain at a checkpoint established at Higher Secondary School Hermain, arrested a drug peddler identified as Showkat Ahmad Thoker son of Manzoor Ahmad Thoker resident of Ramnagri Shopian. During search, 164 grams of charas was recovered from his possession, it reads.
Moreover, a police team of PS Lolab, detained 02 drug peddlers during patrolling in the Kariwan Park area of Dever. They have been identified as Syed Aijaz Ahmad Shah and Syed Ahmad Shah son of Syed Akhtar Shah, both residents of Kakadpati Dever Lolab. During search, charas was recovered from their possession.
Regarding the incidents, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated. J&K Police remains committed of making the society drug-free and ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens.
